A public Water Supply

The Duke of Fife provided the first public water supply for the Milltown in 1881. Glenfield and Kennedy, Engineers was employed in connection with a scheme to collect and store water from a spring at Auchinclech Farm and pipe it to the fountain which still exists in front of the village hall.
